General Information

American Citizen Services Unit (ACS)

The ACS units at the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw, the U.S. Consulate General in Krakow,
and the U.S. Consular Agency in Poznan offer a range of services to citizens of the
United States who are living or traveling in Poland.

U.S. citizens do not need a visa for a stay of up to 90 days in Poland. This includes those
in transit as well as those coming for tourism or for business. For information on

The ACS Unit in Warsaw is open from 9:00 a.m. – 12 p.m., Mondays, Wednesdays and
Fridays; 9:00 am to 3:00 p.m. Tuesdays, and Thursdays excluding Polish and American
holidays.

The Warsaw Federal Benefits Unit (Social Security, Veterans, Civil Service, Railroad

U.S. Passports
Lost/Stolen Passports

» Lost or Stolen Passports

If you need an emergency passport to replace one that is lost or stolen, you can make an
application at the American Citizen Services unit in Warsaw or Krakow. Emergency
passports are limited in validity and cannot be extended. After completion of your travel,
you can apply for a full validity passport in the U.S. or at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
You will need to submit the following:

•Photo identification such as a driver's license.

•Proof of Citizenship, such as a birth certificate or Certificate of Naturalization. At the
discretion of the consular officer, other evidence, such as a photocopy of your lost or
stolen passport, may be acceptable. Please read here more about

•Police report of the theft or loss.

•2 identical passport photos, 5cm.x 5cm., taken within the last six months. Photographs
should be colour and must be front view, full-face taken in normal street attire, and
without a hat or dark glasses.

The cost of a replacement passport is 97 dollars (children 82 dollars) or the equivalent in
Polish currency, payable by cash or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express,
Novus/Discover, Diners. Payment by check is not accepted.

Procedures for Issuance of American Passports

Passport applications are accepted and approved at the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw and
the Consulate General in Krakow, and the passports are printed at the National Passport
Center. Passport applications are also accepted by the U.S. Consular Agency in Poznan
for forwarding to Warsaw.

U.S. Passports
Renewals

It takes several working days to receive a new passport once you submit the applicant.
We encourage you to check your passport for the expiration date and to apply early for
renewal.

Everyone (including minors) seeking to renew a U.S. passport must apply in person at
the American Citizen Services office at Embassy Warsaw, Consulate General Krakow, or
the Consular Agency in Poznan. The fee for passport renewal for adults is 67 dollars
(children 82 dollars) or the equivalent in Polish currency, payable in cash or credit card
(Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Novus/Discover, Diners). We cannot accept
payment by check.

You will need 2 identical passport photos, 5cm x 5cm, taken within the last six months.
Photographs should be colour and must be front view, full-face taken in normal street
attire.
